HEAPE RICHARD, of Healey Hall, nr. Rochdale.  Copies of Letters Written Home During his Travels Abroad in 1872 and in 1874-5-6. Bound manuscript, quarto of some 386pp. (with some blank leaves). Written by the author in 1915 when he found that the original letters, which had been retained by his father, were decaying. A very readable and detailed ink manuscript account of his travels in the Americas, South-East Asia, the antipodes (including Ballarat gold town), the Pacific & elsewhere. With a large folding linen map in boards. Admiralty Track Chart of the World, 1874, with Heape`s travels and voyages marked thereon. (2)  Richard Heape was co-author of various works on the genealogy and history of the Heape family who`s wealth was based on the cotton and textile trade.
