Eastern European - Byzantine influence large oval icon panel, c. late 18th/early 19th century, The entire composition is framed by a large black double headed mythical eagle often symbolic of Imperial authority, with central shield cartouche depicting Saint George slaying the dragon, with smaller emblems above and below, tempera painted with possible gold leaf on wood, fixed to a shield shaped oval wooden wall mount. Height 64cm, Width 48cm.
