Scottish oval silver on copper shoulder belt plate of the Peebleshire Yeomanry Cavalry with incised design of a crown over a thistle, no makers markings, fittings present, 8.5cm x 6.5cm.
Medals of Crawford Murray MacLehose, Baron MacLehose of Beoch, KT, GBE, KCMG, KCVO, DL (1917-2000) who was the 25th Governor of Hong Kong and Commander-in-Chief from 1971-1982, the medals include the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Knights Grand Cross (GBE) badge and star, second type with conjoined portraits, in Garrard and Co box, Royal Victorian Order Knight Commanders (KCVO) neck badge and breast star, Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George Knight Commanders (KCMG) neck badge and star, Order of St John Knight neck badge, star and lapel button, Order of St John of Malta Knight neck badge, star and lapel button, WWII war medal, WWII defence medal, Jubilee medal 1977 and matching miniature medals for each.
Victorian silver twin handled tray with feathered edge and foliate scroll engraved field, presentation inscription reads "To J A Dursbury Esq Postmaster of Hull 1881 to 1896 Testimonial from Merchants & Traders In Recognition of the Efficient and Courteous Discharge of His Duties and of His Untiring and Successful Efforts for the Improvement of the Postal Service of Hull and District December 1896" Makers HA Atkin Brothers, London 1896, approximately 4200g, 75cm x 53cm.
Four postcards showing Henry Alexander Jr descending Ben Nevis in a Ford model T in 1911, the cards produced for Alexander & Co car dealers of Nottingham Place Edinburgh. Alexander & Co were owned by Henry Alexander who in an effort to promote his business of selling the American made Ford in the Scottish market had organised for his son, Henry Alexander junior to drive the model T from sea level in Edinburgh to the top of Ben Nevis in an publicity stunt to prove the superior quality and durability of the American made motor car. Reaching the top took five days an on the arrival at the summit the press were waiting to take photographs and indeed film some of the decent the following day.
