TABLE SELLS FOR £14,400 IN CARLISLE

At the Thomson Roddick & Medcalf March two day antique sale in Carlisle there was very considerable interest in a large Irish dining, hunt or wake table. The table had a beautifully figured oval drop leaf top and attracted bidders from throughout the UK and Ireland resulting in a price of £14,400 being realised. This was the auctioneer`s second success with a large table this year as they sold a circular pedestal table in their February auction for £6,700.

An oil painting by Ken Howard OBE RA, depicting a model in the artist`s studio sold for £5,800 and a collection of Japanese swords sold to a top price of £2,400 with others at £1,300 and £1,200. A World War II fighter pilot`s campaign medal group sold for £1,150 to include log books and an interesting photograph album.
